Your Sorrow

This painting was born out of a dream I had about three months ago. In the dream, a close friend of mine was incredibly sad. The sorrow was heavy, pervasive, and it felt very very old. I don't know who that dream-friend actually was, because I don't know that person (yet, perhaps...). The dream had a profound effect on me, and I painted most of the painting in one session, but didn't finish it then. It lay around for months, waiting for that final touch.

Note: The photo doesn't do the painting justice, because I used a particular turquoise that my camera just cannot capture (I've had this problem before with certain other paintings). The photo of the painting lacks depth, even though I was able to bring a small amount of the turquoise back with editing.
